Career Highlights

Dora Mavor Moore Award Winning Actress Elicia MacKenzie has a career that spans Theatre, Film and Television.

 

Elicia’s professional theatre debut began when she starred as ‘Maria’ in the Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian & David Mirvish North American Premier of “The Sound of Music”. 

Elicia won the role of ‘Maria’ on the TV series “How Do You Solve a Problem like Maria?”. 

 

"The Sound of Music" had spectacular success of playing for live audiences in over a thousand shows.  Based on her  moving performance Elicia was awarded with the “Dora Mavor Moore Award“ for Best Actress in a Principal Role.

Elicia went on to star in the long running Canadian Premier of the Audience Choice Award Winning Production “Rock of Ages” the musical, as ‘Sherrie’.  Then went on to reprise the role of ‘Sherrie’ in Broadway’s 1st U.S. National Tour.

'Dorothy' in a pantomime musical  “The Wizard of Oz”  Toronto

 

‘Fleur de Lys’ in the International Award       winning musical “Notre Dame de Paris” in Two consecutive European / Asian Tours

'Polly Pry' in the Premier of "Cannibal the Musical!" Toronto

'

'Julia' in "The Wedding Singer, Calgary

 

 'The Rose' in the "The Little Prince' Canadian Premier, Calgary  

 

'The Rose' in 'The Little Prince Concert Series' at the Abu Dhabi Music Festival



Frequently performing with live symphony orchestras and cabarets, as well as singing for numerous charities and benefits is also a passion of hers.  “A special treat was working with Tony Award winning Music Director, Ted Sperling in a concert series Tribute to Broadway in 1959.”

Elicia also co-produced as Christmas Album "Home for Christmas" which has a Jazzy and also Classic old time Christmas feel to it.

“I wanted to make this Christmas album of all of my favorite songs I grew up listening to.”​

"I love what I do more and more everyday, and I am so grateful and blessed for the opportunities it has given me throughout the years,” says Elicia.
